Traction of the Car

Traction properties of a car are determined by two parameters: specific traction force (dynamic factor) D and specific power Ny. A vehicle with a high specific traction (with sufficient traction) will successfully overcome difficult sections of the road.

Low specific power will not allow reaching the required speed. But the high power density will provide the necessary acceleration during acceleration and high speed in difficult road conditions. Cars from the United States have high power densities. Low power density values are typical for European cars.

The traction properties of passenger cars differ depending on the type of vehicle. Cars that are used to work on paved roads have a specific power:

Low power-to-weight values correspond to small cars with moderate top speeds.

Specific power of SUV

The power density of high-end cars made in the USA and racing cars reaches from 74 to 200 kW / t. The values of the dynamic factor in direct transmission are Dmax = 0.16-0.18.

High values of the dynamic factor in lower gears allow to overcome the most difficult sections of the road without spontaneous stopping of the engine, if the wheels adhere to the road.
