Compression shocks and rebound

What happens when the car encounters bumps in the road? When the car encounters bumps in the road the shocks and struts start to move up and down. The shaft of the strut pushes into the shock body – it is the compression process. Then the shaft is returning to full extension – it is a rebound. The shaft moves the piston inside the chamber, dampening the suspension’s movement.

Adjustment of shocks and struts is going by adjustment knobs established on the housing. These adjusters can adjust compression and rebound.

How to adjust Shocks and Struts

If you start to move underdamped, the tires will make a lot of noise bouncing up and down over bumps. After adjustments, the noise will smooth as the damping is increased.
